PUASAR001B Participate in a rescue operation (delivered during the conduct of the course)

Description:
This course covers the competency to undertake rescue in confined spaces as a member of a single agency or multi-disciplinary team.

Pre-entry Requirements:
Language Literacy and Numeracy are required to work in an emergency response team and for the completion of appropriate workplace documentation. Students must be physically capable of participating in the training. It is expected that students be qualified in HLTFA301B Apply First Aid.
Assessment:
Students learning outcomes will be assessed using practical activities designed to simulate the extrication of casualties in environments with varying atmospheres that require the use of atmospheric monitoring equipment. Underpinning knowledge will be assessed through the use of theory assessments.
Delivery Method:
Theory will be delivered in a classroom using PowerPoint presentations and the practical component will be delivered using activities simulating confined space rescue situations.
