Students who are members of an emergency response team or who require an introductory course to incidents involving dangerous goods and hazardous substances, and who may be required to don the relevant personal protective clothing to respond to that incident.

Description:
Render Hazardous Materials Incidents Safe (HAZMAT) course covers the competency required to safely combat incidents involving hazardous materials.

Pre-entry Requirements:
Language Literacy and Numeracy are required to work in an emergency response team and for the completion of appropriate workplace documentation. Students must be physically capable of participating in the training. It is expected that students be qualified in HLTFA301B Apply First Aid.
Assessment:
Students learning outcomes are assessed using direct observation using simulated workplace emergencies and oral and written questions as appropriate.
Delivery Method:
Delivered using PowerPoint presentations and practical activities that simulate workplace emergencies which involve the use of emergency response equipment.
