This course is designed for students who require the skills and knowledge to provide first aid response, life support (including CPR), and the management of casualty(s) at an incident until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Description:
This course teaches the fundamental principles, knowledge and skills to enable the first aider to provide emergency care for injuries and illnesses, in the home or the workplace. It includes the provision of skills to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with the objective to sustain life and minimise the consequences until professional help arrives.

- Demonstrate the identification and management of bleeding and wounds
- Describe the recognition and management of internal bleeding

- Apply First Aid Management for bone and joint injuries
- Apply First Aid Management skills for bites, stings and poisoning
- Manage an acute illness
- Describe the recognition and management of an eye injury
- Manage Hypothermia & Hypothermia
- Describe the basic structure and function of the human body
- Apply First Aid Management skills for chest, abdominal pelvic and head injuries
- CPR protocols/responsibilities of the first aider

Protector Alsafe recommends, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that a CPR refresher program is undertaken every 12 months and Apply First Aid be refreshed every 3 years.
Pre-entry Requirements:
Students must complete a pre-course booklet prior to the start of course commencement.
Assessment:
Students learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written questions, and/or use of a workbook, and practical exercises as appropriate.
Delivery Method:
Delivery of training is done face to face and may be done on a customers site or in a Protector Alsafe Training centre.
